Hot Buttered Mussels (Irish) is a recipe for mussels that are cooked in a butter and garlic sauce.
Wash mussels thoroughly under running water.
Remove beards and discardany open shells.
Place mussels in pan and cook over a high temperaturefor 7 or 8 minutes, until the shells open.
Season with salt or pepper.
Place in a serving dish and pour cooking juices over.
Dot with knobs ofbutter and sprinkle with chopped chives.
Serve with fresh brown bread andbutter.
