This recipe is for a traditional apple pot pie. The filling is made with apples, sugar, spices, and a bit of flour to thicken. The crust is a traditional pie crust made with flour, butter, and salt.
Make a dough of the lard, flour and salt, adding enough water to moistenand hold together.
Roll out like pie dough and cut into 2 inch squares.
Wash and peel apples and cut into eighths.
Put alternate layers of applesand dough into kettle, sprinkling each layer of apples generously withsugar and adding a little cinnamon.
Have top layer of dough, dot withbutter and fill kettle half full of water, cover and cook over a low flameuntil apples are soft.
Serve with milk or cream.
