Molasses or honey doughnuts (fastnacht kucka) is a type of fried doughnut that is popular in Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine. The doughnuts are typically made with a yeasted dough and are fried in lard or vegetable oil. They are then dipped in molasses or honey and rolled in sugar.
Scald milk, cool; when it becomes lukewarm, mix in 2 quarts of flour,making a smooth batter; add yeast
Beat together well andallow to stand over night.
Combine the butter and eggs, and cream well.
Addthe honey and a little of the flour.
Beat well and add the remaining flour,leaving enough to dust bread board.
Allow time for full rise and then rolland cut in form of doughnuts.
Let rise again and fry in hot cooking oil orfat.
