Moravian hickory nut cake is a type of cake that is made with hickory nuts. The cake is traditionally made in the fall, when hickory nuts are in season. The cake is usually made with a spiced cake batter and is often topped with a cream cheese frosting.
Work together butter and sugar until very creamy.
Then slowly work in oneegg at a time, alternately with 1 Tbsp flour.
Work at least 5 minutes toeach egg.
Continue alternating the flour and eggs until all the eggs havebeen worked in.
Then add the remaining flour and nuts; lastly, add a claretglass of brandy.
Bake at 350-F for 1-1/2 hours in a deep dish, wellbuttered, placing dish on a small stand at bottom of oven.
Test beforeremoving from oven by sticking with toothpick.
If it comes out sticky, cakeis not done; if dry and clean, cake is finished.
