Sand Tarts (Real Old German Style) Recipe

This recipe is for a type of cookie that is popular in Germany. It is made with a type of flour called "sand tart flour" which is a very fine, powdery type of flour. The cookies are typically made in a mold or with a cookie cutter and are then decorated with sugar or icing.

 2 1/2 c Sugar
 2 c Butter
 2 ea Egg, well beaten
 1 ea Egg white
 4 c Flour
 1 x Pecans
 1 x Cinnamon

Cream the butter and sugar together.

Slowly add the flour, working it inwell.

Add the well-beaten eggs and mix thoroughly.

Chill over night.

Rollout thin on lightly floured board; brush cookies with the egg white whichhas been slightly beaten, sprinkle with sugar and a little cinnamon andpress 1/2 pecan into center of cookie.

Bake at 350-F about 10 minutes.
