 1 c Brown sugar
 ¼ c Lard
 1 x or:
 ¼ c Butter
 ½ c Molasses
 ½ c Water, hot
 ½ ts Soda
 1 x pastry

Make crumbs by combining the flour, sugar and shortening.

Line a pie panwith pastry.

Dissolve the soda in the hot water and combine with themolasses.

Pour into the pastry-lined pan, top with the crumbs and bake at350-F until firm.
